Freitag, 29. Oktober 201020 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall Fraunhofer IGD presents Augmented Reality technology for assistant living using the example of Berlin. Center of the project is a table with a satellite image of Berlin on which a 3D model of the Berlin Wall and the urban development from 1940 – 2008 are displayed. Therefore urban grain plans showing areas covered with buildings is augmented on the satellite image. The visualization is presented on UMPCs and the iPhone via video seethrough. Furthermore posters are showing the system working outdoors. Historic photographs are seamless superimposed and showing the development of landmarks. The interface is kept very simple by fading in information and overlays context and location-sensitive. a4www.igd.fraunhofer.de http

Berlin 9-11
Sonntag, 21. März 20109-11, Riechstag fire, Bush & the Nazis. BERLIN 9-11 is a three minute film about the taboo against making analogies to the Nazis while discussing recent American history. It was shot in and around the world’s most thought provoking architectural renovation — the Reichstag’s stunning new dome. In the name of bipartisanship some are now suggesting that the new Democratic Congress should not seriously investigate allegations of criminal activity in the Bush administration. As BERLIN 9-11 demonstrates, despite the discomfort, we must not close our eyes to the past. For as the Russian proverb advises, “Lose one eye if you look at the past. Lose two if you don’t.” This film from rivertext.com features stunning still photographs that the camera pans through with a technique known as the “Ken Burns effect.”
