On 16 Juli 2008 together with my family we made Tour 1 Dunkle Welten which started at U-bahn station Gesundbrunnen. We went deep underground in a bunkersystem of World War Two. The word ‘Toilet’ was not used since this was the language of the enemy (England and France). Therefore the word ‘Abort’ was painted on the wall to give the direction for men and women. It was dark and claustrofobic under the ground. While the guide gave an explenation we sat in that dark and narrow bunker. While Berlin was bombed you were sitting in the bunker underground with a limit of oxygen. I could feel a little of the atmosphere. After the war all Berlin bunkers were blown up but this bunker was a part of the underground system and therefore not destroyed.
